Verdigris, the blue-green shade of weathered copper, like the Statue of Liberty

lol ok im going to put money down 75% of the men here do not know what "ivory" in color is.

We know Red Blue Green Yellow Pink Purple and Tan.

In a former career, I was a residential interior designer. For me ivory is one of about a dozen shades of white.

I draw a blank after white and off-white . Beyond off-white, it could be light tan as far as I'm concerned...

Well, after all this wait, it seems like this is actually going up fairly quickly.

I'll have to completely reevaluate what I thought 'ivory' was as a color if this bridge is ivory. It looks more like a slightly metallic gray to me when I got up close and looked at it from the construction site on the east side of the river. That view coming west down I-235 will be dramatically different once this is completed.

Tonight I noticed that one of the arch segments for the Center Street bridge has been installed. It looks like the arch will be in 5 pieces to make the whole way across.

Oh, and having a second look at it up close this evening - and without sunglasses on - I stand by my earlier call on the steel being ivory colored.

I've noticed it's all about the light this bridge is viewed in. When it's bright and sunny, I see the ivory/white color. When it's cloudy or the parts of the bridge are shaded, it looks metallic gray.

It helps to have a bright, sunny outlook when bridge viewing. I'll pass that advice on.

The bridge totally changes the dynamics in regards to the location of WFA. I have changed my mind a bit about preferring that WFA be located closer to downtown or the Court Ave district. There aren't many arenas that have a view such as this from the outside or inside their arena.

You can see in the photo that the arch looks white and the deck looks grey - even though they are painted the same color. It DOES depend on how the light reflects off of the steel.

I was downtown for lunch (rarity anymore) and noticed they have both sides of the arc in place. This bridge is going to be striking when it is completed.

I wonder if they will have any kind of a ceremony when the arch is complete. The number 3 piece of a total of 5 is being installed. At the rate of progress they are making, the arch should be complete by sometime next week.

There's still an entire side of the deck to be installed (remember the bridge appears to have two separate trails, joined in the middle by a glass overlook). I was surprised to see them get so far with the arch without having the rest of the bridge deck installed.

It will be white instead of blue, with one higher arch instead of two, and not just one, but three walkways.

Ooooh this will be hot:

This past weekend I got a chance to see the new pedestrian bridge linking Omaha and Council Bluffs across the Missouri River. Overall it way very nice.

The bridge and surrounding trails were filled with walkers and bikers enjoying the riverfront.

I look forward to the same sort of environment once we get our own bridge complete.

But I like the design of having 3 walkways on the Des Moines bridge. You don't have to worry about catrikes and bicycles crowding you over like these folks on the Bob Kerry.

Interesting. I didn't know they had the "waterfalls" now working at the Asian Gardens. That said, the renderings showed the water going directly into the river. That doesn't appear to be how it is working right now. Is this finally a completed project?
