Her show at the iWi sold out in 10 minutes this morning. I didn't know she was that popular. I guess some Kanye-related publicity probably didn't hurt her any.

The Register is reporting that the Black Eyed Peas will play WFA on March 25th, 2010. This is a huge land with the Black Eyed Peas being one of the top pop acts around right now.

Yeah...that's a big get for WFA. My goodness...it seems that WFA is getting much better entertainment lately. I was super excited this year with Coldplay and Britney. Where is Lady GaGa? :)

A liite sad that they are now a pop act. 10-12 years ago, they were a up and coming hip-hop group, then
Fergie came along :?

A huge catch for Des Moines. Looking at their tour schedule, Des Moines is close, if it's not the smallest city on the tour.

Even with your short time as a student in Iowa City, you should have been exposed and have some experience with tinfoil hat people. You don't need to come to Des Moines to see them. They are in your own back yard.

IOWA CITY, Iowa — Iowa City police are investigating an early morning assault in which a man accused another of being a zombie, then punched him twice. Police said the assault occurred at 1:17 a.m. Sunday at an Iowa City restaurant south of the University of Iowa campus.

A man was ordering food when he was approached by another man who called him a zombie, then hit him in the eye. When the victim tried to call police on his cell phone, the man punched him again, breaking his nose.

The man then ran out a back door.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a hospital.

AC/DC's Black Ice World Tour, which was set to hit Phoenix, AZ on October 1, will be postponed to a later date. Subsequent shows in Las Vegas, Louisville, Kansas City, Des Moines and Milwaukee will also be rescheduled. The tour will resume on October 16 in Washington, DC (see tickets page for full itinerary). Lead singer Brian Johnson recently underwent a medical procedure and at the advice of his doctor is taking some time to rest. The Black Ice World Tour, kicked off in October of 2008 and has crisscrossed North America and Europe twice. This November, the Black Ice World Tour will visit Latin America and by early 2010 the tour will hit Australia and New Zealand.

AC/DC's Black Ice was released globally on October 20, 2008 and topped sales charts in 29 countries. In the U.S. alone, Black Ice sold 780,000 copies in it's first week and has since sold in excess of 2 million units

The sold out show was rescheduled to Saturday, April 17, 2010.

So why did Brad Paisley only sell 8500 tickets at WFA when the attendance was almost 11,000 at the iWireless Center? Are we just more country over here? People on the DMR comments were complaining that it wasn't advertised.

I don't know but we've kind of been Countried to death over here. Everytime I look at the Reg's entertainment section there is some picture of a guy in a cowboy hat coming to WFA. Don't know their names. Urban was one of them. Yeee haw.

He just played Sioux City last week. I wasn't able to find any attendance figures but I would guess that it drew 6000 or so based on previous country events in SC.

Just updating the calendar at Wells Fargo Arena with concerts, it looks like the schedule is a little lighter than last year at this time. It will be tough to beat last year, which was a break out year that I was hoping could be maintained.

March 25th- Black Eyed Peas
April 10th-George Strait and Reba McEntire
April 17th- AC/DC
May 6th- Taylor Swift

Elton John added for April 16th. The concerts may be fewer this year, but they're packing some might!

I won't be buying tickets, but I would imagine this one would be a sellout.

I am probably wrong, but you don't think they will have trouble selling out with a short 1 month turnaround from announcement to show?

It's Elton John, this will probably sellout within minutes.

If Des Moines doesn't sell out, that would look awfully screwy for Des Moines and WFA.

Elton John was named by Pollstar as the ninth-biggest touring act of the past decade. His tour with Billy Joel finished among the top three top-grossing tours of 2009. Pretty gooood for a senior citizen who turns 63 in two more weeks.

A week after he plays Des Moines, he will be in Grand Rapids, Michigan. I seen him at the October 1997 concert in Grand Rapids. He played there again in 1999. Both were sell outs. The buzz in Grand Rapids is that Bob Seger's fastest-sellout time of 4 minutes for his Nov. 8, 2006 concert in Grand Rapids could be in jeopardy.

No idea who that is, either. According to Wiki, he is a 16 year old Canadian singer who was signed by Usher. Apparently he sang the opening line for the remade version of We Are The World, which I have yet to hear in its entirety.... :?:

He's playing the iWireless Center as well, and I also was like, who? Even when I read who, I was like, really? The whole arena? Seems more like the type of act that would play a theater. Maybe he'll surprise all of us old folks and sell out both venues.

Well, this explains http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kffacxfA7G4 why this concert is on Wednesday, June 30th. It's not a school night!

Meanwhile, I'm waiting for those 4 rockers who have a combined age of 250 to do Des Moines.
