Yes, they were. Got me a burrito!
The old Hardee's Restaurant turned used car lot near Merle Hay and Douglas is getting leveled so a brand new Hardee's store prototype can take its place its place. This corner looks so much better now.

DMRyan wrote:Yeah, this intersection needs a good CVS or something to clean it up in the worst way. Just don't take out the Chilli King!

It looks like this land was recently purchased by 4G Properties on July 26th.

4G Properties has the same Overland Park, KS address as Westar Foods which runs the Hardee's in central Iowa. I was worried that the sale didn't go through because the For Sale sign is still up (with no pending sale on the sign).

The old Taco John's building on Grand (far east side of WDM) has an Abelardo's sign on it now. They just recently opened in the old Hardee's building on Ingersoll, too.
The old Taco Bell restaurant on Douglas is vacant, if they taking on old fast food spots, that would be good since Tasty Tacos closed down the street.
DMRyan wrote:There's a new retail building proposed for the now vacant land just south of Merle Hay Mall, along Douglas Avenue. This was the site of the old Firestone garage before it was demolished. Should be a fairly solid lineup of fast casual and fast food tenants based on early indications.

Two restaurants, yogurt place and 2 more shops in new retail development on Douglas, just off Merle Hay
