Awesome! This building will really tower over the rest of the Old Market.

I was just in Omaha this past weekend and a part of town just south and west of the Old Market caught my eye. Some great old apartment buildings in the area, but it looked a little raw. A few sections almost resembled Skid Row. This could be one of the more urban, dense sections of town, but I've never noticed non-North Omaha blight like this before on previous visits. The area would definitely have potential just based on the amount of historic apartment building stock worth saving that I saw.

Makes me sad that Des Moines leveled most of their parts of town that were once filled with rowhomes and buildings somewhat similar to this.

One gripe though--Omaha, get rid of all of the damn 5-lane wide one-way streets into and out of downtown already!

How far south and west of the OM are you talking about? There are loads of old project housing about 3/4 of a mile west of the OM. In the area immediately adjacent to the OM a local business is working really hard to create a new urban environment, it is dubbed "Market West." Should be ~150 apartments either opened or u/c by the end of 2012 in this area.

Also Omaha is working on those massive 5 lane eyesores. Harney St. is going to lose 2 lanes for a killer bike trail.
