Great pics, DTO. Omaha has one thing that I am jealous of and Des Moines needs .. a big sprayer downtown.

Beautiful sunset colors. Please tell me the colors are genuine. I prefer viewing photos "straight up", no photoshopping. :)

It depends on what you mean by "photoshopping". I have the actual program photoshop but I don't over edit the picture to unnatural levels.

Ok, so that's kind of vague.

I love your work - very high quality. It's just that with photography in general these days (I'm not trying to sigle you or any particular photographer out) it seems like pictures can become too perfect. I guess that's just my personal take.

I have purchased photographic work where the scene/subject has been altered with the lighting of the scene (not in the "darkroom") by the photographer. Both Frank Relle from New Orleans http://www.frankrelle.com/
and Stephanie Brunia of Des Moines http://stephaniebrunia.com/ being examples.

I know what you mean. I'm the same way when it comes to pictures when too much emphasis is put on the software and not enough into the image itself or the camera. I have only had PS for maybe a week or two and was even hesitant about getting it in the first place. I know what you mean when you say pictures look "too perfect" and while it is tempting and easy to do I prefer to alter my pictures as little as possible. It's just my personal standard.

I decided last night since nothing was on tv and my man was gone that I should go out and take pictures like I used too. I didn't have any set agenda on what to shoot but to just wander around and see what I could find. I also didn't bring a tripod or any filters, just pointing and shooting like I used to without worrying about taking the pictures "the right way".

I hope you all enjoy this set. I actually really like it and it got me excited to shoot Omaha pictures again.

Thanks for showing the unique perspectives DTO. I don't want to slight the incredible photographic talent of the Omaha forumers, but you guys get so wrapped up in professional photography and grabbing the perfect shot that it becomes a contest on eomahaforums.com. I bet it is fun once again to just shoot photos without all the fancy stuff and show some less than postcard worthy shots of the city. I'd bet that the level of professionalism and critiquing of photos going on on the Omaha forum could even discourage the amateurs from showing their photos more often.

My favorite shot you posted is of the Flatiron Building through the triangle-shaped grove of trees.

I took these earlier tonight. We have had some interesting fog the last couple of days in Omaha so I went out and got some shots I'm very pleased with. Enjoy!

Thanks for the pics DTO Luv. Is the location outside the Joslyn art museum?

Yes. This is the new sculpture garden area that was previously parking before being finished in the middle of last year. The last time I was up there they were still working on it but I was going by taking my grandmother home the other day and thought there would be some great shots from up there. I wasn't disappointed.

Ryan,

I would agree. Actually since doing that last spread of photos you commented on there have been a lot more people who aren't in the "high-end amateur" range, posting Omaha pictures again on eomaha. Even the regulars who were burnt out on taking Omaha pictures started dabbling and sharing again.

Also in case you hadn't heard I'll be going to photography school in Massachusetts this fall. Maybe I'll finally get off my ass and get over to DSM and get some pics before I go.

If the weather cooperates, try to get a shot of the empty trench coat sculpture in the Pappajohn Sculpture Park on a foggy night. It would have fit in nicely with what you posted today.
