Ya, Sioux City doesn't even have the worst attendance in the league. I believe the club is poorly ran. They don't believe investing in the renovation proposed a few years ago would help attendance it definatley would and will. But if the explorers leave Morningside College will probably buy the stadium and conduct the much needed renovations.

The next couple years will be crucial to the Explorers. THey seem to have a good on-field staff and the on-field product was pretty good last year. The prices are right for both the concessions and the games but their promotions are horrible and seem to be the same each year. That stadium is hot as Hades, too, in the middle of the sumer because it essentially sits in a bowl surrounded by the interstate to the north, the hill to the east and the stadium itself on the south and west. They're going to have to string together several years of good teams before the city will consider giving any money for a rennovation and then watch Rudy howl. Listening to Rudy crow about the Explorers might be worth the $$$. Maybe the club could have a Rudy Salem look-alike contest as one of their promotions...

The Explorer's stadium has to have one of the worst locations I can think of, right by the interstate in a low density part of town with that bluff as a backdrop. If Sioux City and the Explorers invested some money and put the stadium downtown by the river I can guarantee their attendance would be awesome.

I think that the land was given to the city for the ballpark so it was rather hard to pass up and with the waste water treatment facility across the highway, there is always the chance of a rather ripe evening. I believe an ideal place would be around the old Compressed Steel yard / old FIMCO plant / State Steel area. It would cost a fortune but if it was oriented the way it is now, it would be in the downtown area with the outfield would be near Historic 4th. If you really did it right, rooftop seating along 4th.
