Yeah...I wonder if they are putting any special type of sound proofing windows on that side of the building?

It is nice to see these buildings being transformed to better use. I do wonder as I watch the conversion of the various warehouses south of MLK PKWY if any momentum will be created to build some new infill housing in and around these projects? Currently there are a lot of gaps between the projects and it would be nice to see some density built up.

Is the warehouse that has "Rocket Tranfer" on the side of it going to be eventually renovated as part of this project too? It doesn't appear they've touched that building yet.

No, it's not a part of the Riverpoint Lofts project. Last I heard, Hubbell was holding onto the Rocket Transfer Building it to see if a condo market would ever come back around, but that was some time ago.

Dogbo, you must've spurred Hubbell into action. They're kicking up the renovation of the Rocket Transfer building again, this time with 54 apartments instead of condos. They'll be seeking Enterprise Zone tax credits to assist in making the project a go.

I don't think the Riverpoint Lofts are occupied just yet, but they have to be getting very close to be wrapped up now.

Here's a few update shots of this project that appears to be done from the exterior.

Got a brief tour of the building earlier this week and talked with a leasing agent for the property. He had indicated that 30 apartments have been leased within the first week of opening and there is a waiting list of nearly 300 people, so the 91 units here could also go quick. If true, this still bodes well for downtown apartment living and the demand for more apartments.

The units in the building are average, but I loved the rounded industrial windows that let a lot of light into the building and the historical touches left behind. Huge metal warehouse doors, tons of artwork from architectural salvage, and small historical touches throughout.

Interesting little blurb in an article entitled Strength in Rentals from the Business Record...

It has opened the Riverpoint Lofts apartment building downtown and hopes to have Rocket Transfer Lofts, also downtown, ready to rent later this year.

Construction fencing is going up around this project now, and should be getting started very soon.

Renovation work has just gotten underway. This should be ready by late next spring or early summer.

The parking lot is poured, and they're cutting new windows in the building. It looks like they're adding rooftop elevator penthouses too, perhaps for access to a rooftop patio?
