Dubuque Photo Page
Dubuque is
a city of around 57,000 people, with a metro population of 90,000. Located
in scenic bluffs along the Mississippi River in far eastern Iowa, Dubuque is one
of the most storied and historic cities in the state. Since its
conception, Dubuque has been under control of five different flags and was
finally incorporated as a city in 1833. An abundance of nearby lead mines
and being a port city on the Mississippi brought it prosperity and wealth.
Recently,
Dubuque has been undergoing an amazing renaissance and with the large
America's River Project
gaining national acclaim and its downtown being revitalized. Tourism is
quickly becoming an industry of major importance in this hilly, aged river city. Dubuque is
filled with scenic bluffs, historic neighborhoods, classic architecture and plenty of gritty
industrial areas made entirely out of brick. Definitely an interesting
place to explore.
