• Signature "arched basket handle" bridge over Raccoon River crossing provides a new gateway into downtown
• The parkway is heavily landscaped and includes many design enhancements such as brick crosswalks, decorative fencing, street furniture and other streetscape elements
• Major City of Des Moines civic project is expected to spur development in areas where previous access was difficult
• Phase II will include a new section of MLK Parkway crossing the Des Moines River downtown and connecting to SE 14th Street
