Views from the Skywalk Gallery E-mail

skylineviews

Des Moines has been labeled "the city of skywalks." There's over 3 miles of enclosed, climate controlled pathways connecting many downtown buildings and they play host to a myriad of shops, restaurants and other services within. With such a growing and extensive set of convenient walkways, Des Moines is said to have more miles of skywalks per capita than any other city in the U.S. These walkways provide an interesting and unique set of urban views two stories up from the street level. As evidenced by this gallery, the skywalks make a great place to capture photos, without having to fight the downtown traffic or the outdoor elements. Photos taken high atop the downtown parking garages also provide a series of unique views and have been included in this gallery as well.
