Grand Avenue West is one of the most interesting and majestic corridors in the metro. A large and dense canopy of trees drape over the road and provide a great setting with many buildings tucked in between the urban forest. Primarily residential in nature, Grand Avenue West has a true mix of housing styles; from beautiful mansions to classic brick apartments, dense high rise condos and modern apartments. In conjunction with the Ingersoll Corridor, Grand Avenue West functions as a main artery through Des Moines' upscale old-money and "midtown" neighborhoods. Grand Avenue West is also home to several local landmarks, including Terrace Hill, Des Moines University and the Des Moines Art Center.
